About Change-ringers

This list, founded by Ken Olum in 1992, is the oldest mailing list devoted to change ringing.  Its policy is that messages should be directly related to ringing.  Subscribers are asked to conform to the list policy.  The current moderator is Hayden Charles.  The list administrator is John Camp.  Only subscribers may post to the list. There is another list for ringers, called "ringing-chat", which has a less restrictive policy on content and consequently has a much higher volume of correspondence.  See its web page for further information. You may also be interested in the bellringers' wiki, called RINGWIKI.  The purpose of RINGWIKI is to give answers to frequently-asked questions, record solutions to interesting problems, and to provide a home for any other information pertinent to discussions on the various ringing-based mailing lists.  You can look things up in RINGWIKI, or add or amend information yourself.

Change-ringers archives

Subscribers can normally access the archives since the list began until 1999 here, but they seem to be currently unavailable.   The recent archives, for which your list password is needed, can be found here.   If you don't know what your list password is, you can have it sent to you (see below).   There is currently a gap in the archives between 1999 and 2002. It is hoped that this can be rectified soon.  The archives are not currently searchable.   Subscribers should contact the list administrator if there are any difficulties.

Using Change-ringers

To post a message to all the list members, send email to change-ringers@bellringers.org.  You are asked to send your messages in plain text. You can subscribe to the list, or change your existing subscription, in the sections below.

Subscribing to Change-ringers

Subscribe to Change-ringers by filling in the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. Once confirmation is received, your request will be held for approval by the list moderator. You will be notified of the moderator's decision by email. This is also a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator. Your email address:   Your name (given name and surname) (required):   You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext. If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options. Once a month, your password will be emailed to you as a reminder.
